Amulet of Set (Seth) Egyptian, Baked Clay, 13th – 17th Dynasty (1782 B.C. - 1570 B.C.) Set is the god of War. At times he is also treated as the god of evil but perhaps more correctly, he is the god of Chaos (random, unordered events). Set is responsible for the slaying of Osiris the chief Egyptian god and, in the subsequent battle, he poked out the eye of Horus. All warriors believed that Set protected them in the battles and they would, therefore, wear his amulet into combat. This specimen was recovered at Memphis.
