10a_egypt_conscarab

Conical Scarab Amulet Egyptian, Bone, 18th – 20th Dynasty (1570 B.C. - 1070 B.C.) Similar in function to the true scarab amulet, the conical amulet blends the aspects of the scarab with those of the small conical oysters found in the Nile. The oyster shell represents the true life living inside an outer shell. The bottom of the scarab would also contain a magic spell to further the process. This particular amulet has the following inscribed: Maat the Goddess of the Reality is asked to take the soul on its true path.
