Mummy Beads Egyptian, Faience, 26th Dynasty (664 - 525 B.C.) 40” long collection of restrung mummy beads. These would have been used to make a web holding the amulets to protect the mummy. The Egyptian word for "luck" is "sha" and because these beads were associated with luck and protection, the name "sha sha" came to represent a bead.
