14a_egypt_thoth

Statue of Thoth Egyptian, Faience, 18th – 20th Dynasty (1570 B.C. - 1070 B.C.) This is a small statue of the god Thoth, who was the patron god of scribe and the arts. Additionally, Thoth also came to represent the Truth. One of his feathers is used to weigh against the heart during the time of judgment of the soul. This small item would have been used in household worship or in the burial of a commoner to help his entrance into the after life. This specimen was recovered at Memphis.
